How is the list ordered?

Lists with more than ten practices show the first ten ordered by Google rating (practices with 10 or more reviews first), then the rest alphabetically. Ratings are Google users' opinions, not our assessment, and no practice pays to change its position. The homepage default is Google rating with 10 or more reviews first; you can also sort by most reviews or by name.

Where does the information come from?

Names, addresses, phone numbers and ratings come from public Google Maps and Google Business Profile listings. Treatments, NHS and private mentions and any "about" details are read from each practice's own website. A field with no source is left out. Last checked 30 September 2026. See the methodology page.

Can I tell which dentists take NHS patients?

No. A website that mentions NHS care may also say it is not taking new NHS patients, and availability changes often. Use NHS.uk find a dentist, call the practice, or contact NHS 111 or Essex ICB if you cannot find one.

How do I check a dentist is properly registered?

Check a dentist is registered on the General Dental Council (GDC) register at olr.gdc-uk.org, and look up inspection reports for the practice on the Care Quality Commission (CQC) website.
